Just realized greasing my boom pivot daily beats doing it once a week, and it took a $900 part to teach me
I blew a boom pivot bearing on a 40 ton truck crane at a site in Amarillo about 6 months ago. Shop quoted me $900 for the part plus 2 days down. The old timer who runs the yard there asked how often I greased the fittings and I said every Friday, which I thought was fine. He said he hits his every morning before the first lift, takes him 4 minutes, and his 22 year old machine still swings smooth. I figured he was just old school till I started doing the same thing and my swing chatter went away in about a week. Now I want to know what else I've been doing on a weekly schedule that should be a daily one. What's the one grease point you guys hit every single day no matter what?
