Caught my co-worker skipping daily crane inspections - almost cost us big

Guy I work with named Dave kept saying he'd done the morning walk-around. I got suspicious when I saw his logbook was clean every single day. No oil leaks noted, no frayed cables, nothing. That's just not realistic. So one morning I showed up early and watched him. He just walked around the base, took a piss, and went to the cab. Called him out on it right there. Foreman made us do a full inspection together and we found a snapped wire on the hoist cable. One more heavy lift and that thing could've let go. Scared the hell out of me. Any of you guys run into people faking the pre-shift check?

Dave's version of a "daily inspection" sounds more like a pee break with extra steps. That snapped wire could've been a real wake-up call for someone riding in the cab below. Hope the foreman made him buy the next round of coffee for the whole crew.
