Wednesday last month was my worst chair day in 5 years of doing hair
I had three color corrections back to back and my toner ended up patchy on the second one because I forgot to check the porosity. Then a client brought in a photo of some silver gray balayage that was clearly done on a filter. I tried to explain it wouldn't look like that on her dark brown base but she got upset. My hands were shaking by 3 PM from skipping lunch. The sink backed up while I was rinsing the last client and water spilled all over my station. I ended up comping two services just to keep people calm. Has anyone else had a day where everything that could go wrong actually did go wrong?

Honestly, "clearly done on a filter" is just code for "I'm gonna be redoing this for free next week.

and honestly I feel that in my bones cause it happened to me last month. Some lady came in with a terrible brassy color job from somewhere else, swore up and down she loved it at first, then a week later was back crying about how "the tone shifted." I knew I shoulda charged her for a full correction but I was nice and did a quick gloss instead. now I'm sitting here on a Tuesday night with foils in her hair, no extra pay, just my pride and a half eaten granola bar. you give an inch they take a mile every single time. it's like some clients just wait for you to feel bad so they can get free stuff.

Idk if I'm the only one who feels this way but like... is a bad chair day really that deep? I mean yeah it sucks when stuff goes wrong but you comped two services and now you're out money and that's on you honestly. Clients get upset all the time that's just part of the job. Maybe just take a breath and eat your sandwich next time instead of skipping lunch and letting it get to your head.
