Watching new stylists skip steps makes me cringe

I mean, back in the day, we were taught to section hair carefully for every cut. Now, I see folks just hacking away to save time. Idk, maybe it's just me, but the finished look shows the rush. Like, blunt cuts without proper texturizing end up looking boxy. It's frustrating because clients don't know any better. I miss when training emphasized precision over speed. That attention to detail is what made us professionals.

Is this the new normal for every job? I watched a guy install my laminate flooring and he just slapped it down without checking the seams. Of course it started buckling in a week. We're all paying for speed over quality, and it's honestly kind of depressing. My barber now takes ten minutes for a cut that used to take half an hour, and yeah, it shows.

Yeah but to be fair, sometimes management is pushing them to rush lol. The barista probably knows your order is wrong, they just get in trouble if they're too slow.

Ever notice how this rushing thing shows up in all kinds of jobs now? My coffee order is wrong half the time because the barista is just trying to push drinks through. Same with the guys who did my fence last month, cut every corner. It feels like the whole idea of doing something right the first time is just gone. Speed is the only metric that matters anymore, even when it makes the end result worse.
