Warning: My client's bleach started smoking during a color correction
Tbh, I was doing a corrective color in my chair last Thursday and the bleach mixture for her dark regrowth started getting hot and smoking. I rinsed it out immediately with cool water and applied a deep conditioner for 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a formula react like that, and what do you think caused it?

Read a thread once where a stylist said old developer can go bad and cause a reaction like that. Kinda lines up with what @finleyw99 said about strength maybe being off.

Heard about a similar thing from a friend who does hair out of her home salon. She mixed up a bleach for highlights and the bowl got so warm it was almost too hot to hold, with little wisps coming off it. She always figured she might have used a developer that was too strong, or maybe the room was just really warm that day and it sped everything up. Scared her enough that she double checks her measurements every single time now.

That wispy smoke is the part that really gets me. Did she ever figure out if it was the developer strength or just the room temp that caused it?
