TIL most people don't know the right way to hold shears for point cutting
I was watching a stylist at a salon in Austin and she was holding her shears straight up and down, like she was chopping. That's wrong for creating texture. You need to hold them at a 45 degree angle to the hair, not 90. I learned this from a class two months ago, and my texture work got way better. It stops those harsh lines and makes the blend look natural. Has anyone else had to fix this habit after years of doing it the other way?

How do you keep the angle consistent through the whole cut?

My angle drifts so much I'm basically cutting a curve. Muscle memory is still on vacation for me.

Lock your wrist and let your shoulder do the work, @kai_butler83, it's all muscle memory.
