Switched from foils to balayage on my own hair, here's what went down
After 4 years of doing foils on myself in my bathroom in Portland, I finally tried a hand-painted balayage last month and the grow-out is so much softer, but I still miss how crisp my foils looked at the root, any other stylists out there prefer one for maintenance on their own hair?
The foil stains are honestly a rite of passage at this point, @olivia_rivera88. I had the same thing until I realized those spray-on glass cleaners just smear the residue around. Try rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, it breaks down the foil glue in like two swipes without scratching the mirror. And if any bits are really stuck, a razor blade at a flat angle works way better than scrubbing harder. Also, four years of pretending is basically a master's degree in adulting, so give yourself some credit.
