My client's hair grew 3 inches in 5 months after I made one swap to her routine
She was using a hot flat iron on damp hair every single morning and I told her to stop, that heat on wet strands basically boils the cuticle from inside. Five months later at her trim appointment the growth difference was obvious, even she was shocked. Has anyone else seen a client's hair turn around that fast just from cutting out one bad habit?
The "boils the cuticle from inside" thing is real and I wish more stylists explained it that way instead of just saying heat is bad. My question is what was her hair actually doing before that made her reach for the iron every single morning in the first place? If she was flat ironing damp hair daily, she probably had frizz or texture she was fighting, and just pulling the iron doesn't fix that on its own. Did you change anything else in her routine at the same time, like how she dried it or what she put in it before styling? Because 3 inches in 5 months sounds more like the hair stopped breaking off at the ends than it did actually speeding up growth, and those are two very different things to tell a client.
