My $200 clipper died halfway through a fade on Saturday and I had to finish with scissors
So this happened last Saturday at my chair in the salon, busy day, booked solid from 10 to 6. I'm halfway up the back of this kid's head doing a skin fade, clipper just stops. Dead. No warning buzz, no slowing down, nothing. I check the cord thinking it came loose, nope, it's the motor. This thing is maybe 8 months old and I paid around $200 for it. So here I am with a kid who has a half bald stripe up the back of his head looking at me in the mirror. I grabbed my shears and just went to work blending by hand, took me an extra 25 minutes and my wrist was killing me. It came out decent somehow but I comped him 10 bucks off because I felt bad. Any of you keep a cheap backup clipper in the drawer for exactly this reason? Or do you just send clients home with a hat when your main one quits on you mid cut?
