Found out last week that most salons don't teach their stylists how to actually sharpen shears.

I was talking to a sharpener at a supply shop in Phoenix and he said maybe 1 in 20 stylists know how to keep their own edges right. Has anyone else run into this or am I just behind on the trend?

Totally feel you on this. I was shocked when I learned most stylists just send their shears out or swap them for cheap ones. My old boss had a guy come in every few months to do a whole shop's worth, but none of us were taught a thing about maintaining them ourselves. It's wild how basic tool care gets skipped in training.
