A client at my chair on Thursday said she "doesn't trust" stylists with less than 10 years, and I can't stop thinking about it
I was finishing up a balayage on a regular when she said it, just casual, like it was nothing. She's been seeing me for 8 months and she knows I've been behind the chair for 4. I didn't say anything back because I was mid-foil and honestly didn't know how to. But it got in my head all weekend, because the same week I fixed a color correction that a 15 year stylist at another salon in town left her in. I get wanting someone with mileage, and there are cuts I still mess up. But the assumption that the number is the whole story just bugs me. How do you all handle it when a client says something like that right to your face? Do you push back or just let it go?
