Watching a pro chef stream vs following static recipe sites is a total game changer
I spent 2 hours last night watching a Twitch streamer break down knife cuts in real time, and it clicked way faster than the 15 blog posts I read last week. The way they explained why you hold a chef's knife at a certain angle made more sense with the visual feedback and chat questions. Has anyone else found live content way better for learning specific cooking techniques than written guides?

Chiffonade the basil" is exactly the kind of thing that got me too - I once spent 20 minutes trying to cut basil leaves individually because I thought "rolling them up" was some fancy chef secret. That grip thing you mentioned is huge though, I had tennis elbow for months before a cook friend pointed out I was basically strangling the knife handle.

and the thing about those blog posts is they always assume you already know the basics, you know? like when they say "chiffonade the basil" and you're just sitting there with a blunt knife wondering if it matters. but watching a streamer? they'll literally hold up the basil and show you how to roll it tight, then the exact angle to slice so you don't bruise the leaves. i had the same thing with deboning a chicken - a recipe said "follow the joint" but it wasn't until i saw someone actually pop the thigh bone out that i realized i was cutting in the wrong spot entirely. the chat questions help too, like someone asked why their hands were cramping and the streamer pointed out they were gripping the knife wrong, which is something no static page would ever catch.
