That week I accidentally deleted my whole video library changed my mind about cloud backups

I always thought local storage was fine, but after losing 3 years of footage to a corrupted hard drive last month, I finally paid for Backblaze and now I actually sleep better at night - has anyone else had a close call that made them switch their backup setup?

Here @kai_butler83 I get why you do the dual drive thing but honestly two local copies still feel too risky if something like a fire or flood hits your house. Cloud backups are way more reliable for disaster proofing even if they cost a few bucks a month. Local drives just give you a false sense of security.

Feeling for you both, losing data like that is absolutely brutal.

Three years of footage gone, that's rough man, I can't even imagine. My own close call was losing a single year of family photos to a failed external drive, and that was enough to make me buy a second one immediately. Now I just keep everything on two local drives plus a cloud service, feels way safer than trusting one spot.
