That advice about uploading three times a day nearly killed my channel

A guy in a Discord server told me to post three videos daily on YouTube to beat the algorithm, but after two weeks of that I was burnt out and my watch time actually dropped by 40 percent, so has anyone else tried a high upload schedule and had it backfire?

Yeah "phoning it in" is exactly what happens. I read this thing from a bigger creator who said the algorithm actually punishes you for pumping out low effort stuff because it hurts your average view duration. He did a test where he posted one high quality video a week for a month and compared it to daily uploads of whatever he could throw together. The weekly videos had way more total watch time even with way less content. Quality over quantity seems to be the real trick.

You ever see someone crash and burn with that? My friend tried posting twice a day for a month. She ended up recycling old ideas and making garbage videos. Her retention rate just tanked, like people could tell she was phoning it in. She took a week off after that and her channel actually grew.
