Sponsor contracts with trackers vs lump sums, the tracker won big

I ran a 3 month campaign with a monthly tracker sponsor and then a flat fee for the same niche, the tracker pulled in $1,400 more and kept me honest about posting. The lump sum let me slip on content quality by week 6, nobody noticed until the numbers tanked. Has anyone else seen better returns with per-view deals over flat rates?

My buddy Jake ran the same test with a fitness channel, 8 week tracker deal against a flat rate for the same sponsor pool, and the tracker made him $900 extra. He said the per-view setup forced him to actually check his analytics every morning, so he caught a bad thumbnail two days in instead of letting it sink the whole month. The lump sum campaign he just phoned in after the first check cleared, and his retention graph looked like a ski slope.
