Rant: My roofing tutorial blunder is on tape and I'm debating whether to share it

I was filming a how to video for my YouTube channel about fixing roof leaks, and I accidentally used the wrong sealant in a shot. The camera got the whole thing, and now I have this clip of me doing it wrong. I want to be upfront with my followers and leave it in to show how to avoid my error, but I'm scared it might make people doubt my skills. Some folks in my comments always expect perfect content, and this could give them ammo. If I cut it out, I feel like I'm hiding stuff just to look good. My channel is supposed to be about honest tips from a roofer, so editing feels fake. What do you all do when you catch a mistake in your content? Do you fix it quietly or call it out?

You said your channel is about honest tips from a roofer, so I'd leave it in. I kept a similar goof in one of my videos and people said it made me more trustworthy, lol.

Counterpoint though: leaving obvious mistakes in can make you look sloppy, not honest. Roofing advice deals with people's homes and safety, so a clean, professional edit signals you take it seriously. Some viewers might see a glaring error and click away thinking your tips are just as messy.

Totally agree with what the_riley said about trust. I left a big typo in a client presentation once and just pointed it out myself, and they actually liked that I owned it. Showing you can laugh at a mistake makes you more real.
