PSA: Stop filming vertical video if you want people to actually watch

I scroll through YouTube Shorts and TikTok all the time, and I keep seeing creators film horizontal clips and then just crop them vertical. You lose half the shot every time. I learned this the hard way last month when I spent 30 minutes filming a tutorial at my shop and ended up with my hands cut out of frame. Just rotate your phone before you hit record, it takes 2 seconds. Has anyone else noticed this ruining good content?

Ask if they've actually tried scrolling through a feed that's half horizontal videos squeezed into a vertical frame though. I bet that's way more annoying than just tilting your phone before you start recording. Or maybe it's just me who gets bothered by the black bars on the sides.

The 2.35 seconds it takes me to rotate my phone before hitting record has saved me from a lot of annoying editing later. Your mileage may vary but for me those black bars on the sides make everything look like a mistake. A little tilt now beats a headache later in my experience.
