I dropped $500 on a thumbnail design course and I'm totally split on if it was worth it
The course promised to teach the 'psychology of clicks' and had a bunch of templates. I learned some solid stuff about color and font pairing that I use now. But honestly, a lot of the advice felt super generic, like 'use a face' or 'add an arrow'. I could have probably found similar tips for free on YouTube over a few weekends. Part of me thinks the structured lessons saved me time, but the other part feels like I paid for repackaged basics. Has anyone else taken a pricey course for one specific skill and felt this torn about the value?

Honestly, that's the worst feeling. Did the course at least give you direct feedback on your work from the teacher? Because if it was just videos and templates, I'd be pretty mad too. Tbh, paying for structure makes sense if you're lost, but a lot of these courses just sell common knowledge. It sounds like you got a couple useful bits but mostly got played. Ngl, I'd be side-eyeing that whole "psychology of clicks" promise now.

Yeah, the "psychology of clicks" part is just me paying to learn I'm easily tricked.

Ugh, tell me about it. I once bought a course on "viral hooks" and the big secret was basically just "use numbers and ask questions." Felt like I paid fifty bucks for someone to read a BuzzFeed headline to me.
