Drop 30 bucks on a cheap mic and my audio went from trash to decent

I was using my laptop's built-in mic for YouTube videos and the sound was so tinny and echo-y. Saw a deal on a basic USB condenser mic for about 30 dollars and figured I'd give it a shot. The diff was night and day just by sitting closer and not having room reverb. Anyone else start with cheap gear and get better results than you expected?

My Blue Yeti cost me $35 used and I swear it sounds better than some $200 mics my friends own. The whole "you need expensive gear" thing is a myth until you start needing to record in a closet with blankets everywhere. Now I just gotta figure out why my cat thinks singing into it at 3am is a good idea.

Put mine on a little foam pad (like $5 on Amazon) and it stopped the weird vibrations completely, now my cat just stares at it confused instead of howling.
