A comment about "viewer retention" finally clicked for me after 3 years

I was scrolling through a thread about editing styles and someone said my videos probably lose people in the first 10 seconds because I take too long getting to the point. That hit me because I've been making tutorials since 2021 and my average watch time is stuck around 32 percent. So last week I tried front-loading the actual tip in the first 5 seconds, then explaining the setup after. My latest video on carb sync basics held 58 percent through the middle, which is a huge jump for me. Anyone else found that one small change in pacing made a bigger difference than all the fancy gear tricks?
