Why does nobody talk about the laser layout tool that saved my basement job?
I was marking out a 40 foot basement remodel in Omaha and kept fighting with a chalk line for hours. Then my electrician buddy pulled out a green laser level and just shot the whole grid in 10 minutes flat. He said, "Why are you still snapping lines like it's 1999?" That thing paid for itself on one job, no joke. I honestly had no idea these were so cheap now, like under $300 for a decent one. Has anyone else switched over from traditional string lines to a laser setup on smaller projects?
The line laser is slick until you hit a room with messed up studs or a sloped floor, then the grid lies to you. My buddy dropped $250 on one and still pulls out the chalk line for tight corners where the beam can't reach. Do you trust the laser more on rough framing, or is it just a finish work tool for you?
