Vent: the layout app on my phone saved me 4 hours last week and I still feel weird about it
Last Tuesday I had a small bathroom rough-in in Chandler and the homeowner wanted the vanity moved 6 inches to the left. Three years ago I would have measured, marked, and prayed, then run back and forth to the truck for the laser. This time I pulled out the free layout app on my phone, took two shots of the wall, and it showed me the studs and the drain line right on the screen. I was done in 20 minutes and the drywall guy never had to patch anything. Now I am wondering if I am getting soft relying on my phone instead of my tape. Anyone else using these apps on small jobs, or do you stick to the old way?
