Vent: my foreman swears cloud plans are the future, my super won't touch a tablet
My foreman pulled me aside on the Cedar Rapids job Tuesday and said paper plans are dead in 5 years, then my super walked by and said he will retire before he reads a blueprint on a screen. Now the same RFI sat in two places for 3 days and nobody caught it. One side says the cloud app keeps everyone on the same page, the other says a rolled up set never runs out of battery in a trench. I honestly see both sides. Which one are you all running with on active jobs?
So who wins the battle of the century: the cloud app that logs you out right when you're in the basement, or the paper set that turns into a soggy mess in the rain? I mean at least the tablet gives you a paperweight after it dies. The real kicker is that RFI sitting in two places, that's not a tech problem, that's just nobody wanting to be the one to make the call. Maybe the answer is both, one guy keeps the paper and one keeps the iPad, and you duct tape them together so they can't ignore each other. Idk, seems like the same fight as always, just with a charging cable now.
