Switched from paper timesheets to a tablet app on our Lubbock remodel and cut 6 hours a week of office work
Two months back my brother and I took on a kitchen remodel in Lubbock and started with the usual paper timesheets the crew filled out by hand. I'd spend every Friday night squinting at smudged pen marks and calling guys to ask if that said 7 or 9 hours, which ate up almost 3 hours some weeks. We tried a $30 a month app where the guys clock in on a shared tablet in the trailer, and the difference was night and day, payroll went from half a day to about 20 minutes. The paper sheets never matched the truck logs, but the app stamps GPS so I stopped second guessing everyone. Anyone else fight the crew on switching to digital time tracking, or is there a way to get the older guys on board without a mutiny?
Man, this is the same thing that happened when my bank stopped mailing paper statements and everybody swore they needed the paper copy. People fight the change, then a month later nobody wants to go back. The tablet is just the newer version of that, the guys will grumble for a week and then forget paper ever existed.
