Blew $200 on a fancy laser level and it saved my whole day
Last month I picked up a cheap auto-leveling laser for $200 because I was tired of guessing with a bubble level. I was running conduit in a 3,000 square foot warehouse and needed dead straight lines for the ceiling grid. The thing locked onto the beams perfect in under 2 minutes no bobbles. Has anyone else had luck with these cheaper models or did I just get lucky?

That "locked onto the beams perfect in under 2 minutes" part is exactly what sold me on mine... I picked up a similar one for around $180 last spring. I was doing crown molding in my living room and the old bubble level was driving me nuts with all the back and forth. The auto leveling honestly saved me from having to redo a whole corner because I would have guessed wrong. Pretty sure I got lucky too, but I've heard these cheaper ones have gotten better in the last few years.

The "saved me from having to redo a whole corner" part is so real. I had basically the same thing happen with some baseboards in my hallway last year. That old bubble level made me question every single line, I swear I must have checked each piece like five times before cutting. My cheap laser level was around $150 and honestly it paid for itself after the first room. I kept waiting for it to fail or drift off but it held steady through the whole project. It's wild how much better the cheaper ones have gotten, even my buddy who does trim work for a living was surprised when he saw mine in action.
