Talking to a janitor made me rethink school lockdown drills

Last week I was cleaning out my storage unit and this older guy who works there started talking to me. He told me he used to be a security guard at a high school in Ohio. He said the lockdown drills we do now are more for making people feel safe than actually being safe. He pointed out how most drills follow a pattern and anyone watching could figure out the response time. That really hit me differently. Has anyone else talked to someone in security or safety jobs who had a different take on these procedures?

Never thought about how easy it is to spot patterns in those drills though.

Drills 1 through 3 are basically the same move just mirrored, so the real challenge starts at number 4.
