Spent $60 on a dash cam after years of thinking they were paranoid nonsense

Caught a guy sideswiping my trailer in a Love's parking lot in Nebraska last month and his insurance paid out $2,400 because the footage was clear. Who else has had a cheap piece of gear actually save them money like that?

You bet, I had the exact same feeling for years until my own dash cam paid for itself in under a month. A guy backed into my truck at a grocery store lot and tried to blame me, but the footage showed he was on his phone the whole time. His insurance cut me a check for $1,800 and I've been recommending them to everyone I know since.

Man, I'm glad that worked out for you. It's such a relief when the camera actually catches everything, especially with the grocery store parking lots being such a mess. I've got an old one in my car and it's saved me from a couple of arguments that would have gone nowhere otherwise. My buddy Scott had a guy try to claim he swiped his mirror on a narrow street but the video showed the guy was three feet over the line, so the whole story fell apart quick. It's just peace of mind having that little thing up there in the corner.

Oh man, that story reminds me of what happened to my buddy Dave last winter. Some lady t-boned him at an intersection and immediately started screaming that he ran a red light. He had a cheap dash cam he got on sale for thirty bucks and sure enough the footage showed her light had been red for a solid three seconds. The cop wrote her up for failure to yield and her insurance had to cover his rental car and all the repairs. He still sends me photos of the printout of that check he got framed on his wall.
