Picked the $200 decoder ring over the $15 map at a flea market in Boise

I chose the mystery decoder ring because the seller swore it unlocked a secret message in an old newspaper, and of course it was just a cheap toy from the 90s. Now I'm stuck wondering if the map would've actually led to that abandoned missile silo, so has anyone else gambled on weird conspiracist gear at a swap meet and regretted it?
