My neighbor's take on the moon landing changed my mind

I was having a beer with my neighbor, a retired machinist, and he calmly said, 'You know, I worked on parts for the Apollo program, and the idea we faked it insults every welder and grinder who worked 80-hour weeks.' It wasn't about debunking facts, but hearing the human cost behind the theory made me see the whole debate differently. Has a personal story from someone involved ever shifted your view on a famous conspiracy?

Interesting point, but I've met folks who worked hard on projects that turned out to be scams. Hard work doesn't always mean the story is true.

My buddy lost two years on a fake crypto startup.

Totally get what you're saying. I mean, I watched a friend pour his heart into one of those NFT projects that was basically a rug pull waiting to happen. He was so sure it was the next big thing. @margaretm23 is right, putting in crazy hours just means you're committed, not that the thing is real. It's brutal to see someone waste all that time and hope on something fake. Makes you really careful about what you jump into now.
