Saw a video where they explained the retroreflectors left on the moon. Scientists still bounce lasers off them to measure the distance, which you couldn't fake. That old PowerPoint needs an update.

Funny how some ideas just stick around forever. People get attached to old stories even when the facts are right there. Hard to change a mind once it's made up.
