My cousin argued the moon landing footage was too perfect to be real

We were at a family cookout in Boise, and he pointed out how the flag seemed to wave without wind. He said the shadows looked wrong, like from a studio light, not the sun. Has anyone found a solid, simple breakdown that debunks these specific points?

Oh man, that's the classic argument, right? The flag thing is because they used a horizontal rod to hold it out in the airless moon, so when they planted it, it kept wobbling for a bit. The weird shadows just happen when the ground is all bumpy and the sun is the only light source, no atmosphere to soften it. It can look fake because we're used to how things look on Earth.

Seriously, it gets so tiring hearing the same old points brought up like they're some huge discovery. You explained it perfectly. Our brains just aren't wired for how light works up there, so of course it looks odd to us. It's wild that people still fall for those old videos claiming to "debunk" it. Doesn't it just make you appreciate the science more?

Exactly, it's exhausting.
