I used to think chemtrails were real until I saw a contrail form at 35k feet

Honestly, I was dead set on the chemtrail theory for years, but last summer I watched a plane leave a trail that slowly turned into a cloud and it clicked that water vapor just does that. Anyone else have a moment where actual observation killed a conspiracy for you?

And that's the thing, isn't it? Once you actually stop and watch how the world works up close, all these grand theories just kind of fall apart. I've noticed the same pattern with people who swear their neighbor's leaving their porch light on to signal UFOs, but it's just a bad timer or a light sensitive to bugs. Most of these big conspiracies sound real convincing from a distance, but the closer you get, the more you see it's just the boring, everyday physics of water in the air or a broken switch. Your mileage may vary, but for me, the biggest conspiracy killer is just paying attention to the details that are right in front of you.

Yikes, I don't know if I'd go that far. I mean, sure, people get carried away with the UFO stuff, but calling it a "conspiracy killer" feels a bit much. It's a porch light, not a deep state plot, you know?

Totally agree, found out my own neighbor's "signal light" was just a motion sensor tripped by raccoons.
