I tracked my own phone for a week to see if the data matched my actual routine.

I left my phone in a drawer for a full day to test the location logs, and my fitness app still said I walked 2,000 steps. It makes you wonder how much of this 'proof' is just software filling in the blanks. Has anyone else done a basic check on their own data and found it was just wrong?

It's wild how much we just trust these numbers without question. My smartwatch congratulated me for a good night's sleep while I was literally staring at the ceiling at 3 AM. Makes you wonder if the whole system is just guessing most of the time to make us feel productive. We're building habits and paying for services based on data that might be completely made up.

Honestly it's just a watch. Mine said I burned 400 calories sitting on the couch. The data is fun to look at but I don't plan my life around it. If it makes you feel bad just take the thing off.

Yeah that "fun to look at" data from @riley_west can be totally wrong. My friend's watch told him he had a perfect heart rate during a scary movie, but he was actually having a panic attack and had to go to the hospital. They said his real pulse was through the roof.
