Can we talk about how I finally got my uncle to stop sharing those wild moon landing videos

For years, every family dinner turned into a debate because my uncle is deep into the 'moon landing was faked' stuff. He'd send me these hour long YouTube videos with 'proof' and I'd just get mad. Last month, I tried something new. Instead of saying he was wrong, I asked him to show me the single best piece of evidence he had. He picked the flag waving in a vacuum. So, I spent an afternoon and found a 15 minute video from a former NASA engineer, not a random guy, who explained the whole flagpole setup with simple physics. I sent just that one link and said 'This helped me see the other side of that specific point.' He watched it. He actually called me and said, 'Huh, I never thought about it like that.' He hasn't sent me a conspiracy video since. Has anyone else found that focusing on one small claim works better than the big picture fight?

Remember when my neighbor kept going on about chemtrails. I printed out the actual flight path data for our local airport, the stuff they use for air traffic control, and just left it in his mailbox. He never mentioned it again. Sometimes they just need to see the real paperwork.

You basically gave him a quiet way out without losing face, right?
