The PS2 library is way deeper than people give it credit for

I keep hearing people say the GameCube or Xbox had the best exclusives from that gen. But I've been going back through my PS2 collection from 2000 to 2006 and there's like over 40 bangers nobody talks about. Stuff like God Hand, Shadow of the Colossus, and even obscure ones like Chulip. Did any other console that generation have that many hidden gems across so many genres? I feel like the sheer volume of quality games on PS2 gets overlooked because everyone focuses on the big marquee titles.

Yeah man, totally. I've been doing the same thing actually, pulling out my old PS2 games from a box in the garage. It's ridiculous how many good games are just sitting there. I remembered I had this weird game called Mr. Mosquito where you play as a mosquito bothering a family, and it's actually fun. People talk about the big ones, Halo or Metroid Prime, sure, those are great. But the PS2 had so many random things, like Katamari Damacy or that S.L.A.I. game nobody bought but was a solid mech shooter. I swear I could name another 20 off the top of my head and most people under 25 have never heard of half of them. That library is just too big to ignore, even if the peak highs aren't as loud as Nintendo's.

Twenty bucks says half those PS2 discs still have your old save files on them from 2004 with cringey names like "ShadowXxX." I found a copy of Chulip yesterday where you have to kiss people to progress and honestly it makes more sense than half the games coming out now. But hey, at least the Mosquito guy didn't need a day one patch to buzz around that family's living room.
