Serious question, I sold my N64 for a PS1 in 1998 and I'm still not sure I made the right call
Back in 1998 I was 13 and had saved up $140 from mowing lawns around my neighborhood in Toledo, and I had to pick one console with that money. My buddy Marcus had a PlayStation and swore by Final Fantasy VII, and my other friend Dave had an N64 and would not shut up about GoldenEye. I went with the PS1 because the games were cheaper at FuncoLand and I could trade stuff in. But man, every time I went to Dave's house and we played four player split screen with the boys, I felt this little pang of regret. I missed out on Mario 64 entirely and did not play it until like 2010 at a retro shop. To be fair I put maybe 300 hours into Twisted Metal 2 and Tony Hawk so it was not wasted money. Still, that one choice back then kind of defined which friend group I hung with that summer. So who else made a swap or a pick like this and spent way too long second guessing it?
