Heard a 12 year old at GameStop in Reno call the N64 controller a relic, and it got me thinking
He was holding a Switch and laughing about how nobody could use three prongs, and I wanted to tell him that controller was made for a game like Mario 64 where the analog stick was the whole point, not just another button. Funny thing is his dad nodded at me like yeah I remember that too. Do kids today even know what a rumble pak felt like the first time, or is that just gone for good?
Some kid at a store told me my whole childhood was garbage and his dad just nodded along like they were at a funeral for my thumbs. That three prong thing was weird but so is paying 70 bucks for drift. The rumble pak hitting your palm for the first time felt like the future just punched you in the hand. These kids will never know the pain of blowing into a cartridge either, and honestly that is on us for not passing it down.
