Watched a crew pour a driveway in 95 degree heat with zero shade covers

I was passing through Phoenix last week and saw a crew finishing a 40 foot driveway in full sun. No shade cloths, no misters, just guys out there with finishing tools trying to beat the clock. I know it's AZ in summer but that concrete had to be setting up like crazy fast. How do you guys handle extreme heat pours when you don't have control over the schedule?

Man that's brutal. I feel for those guys working in that kind of heat with no breaks from the sun. Concrete sets so fast when it's that hot too, must be a nightmare to finish.

Oh man, I gotta admit I used to think they were just complaining... then I actually worked a summer in Phoenix framing houses. That changed my mind real quick. By 10am the rebar is hot enough to burn through your gloves and you're drinking water like it's going out of style. That concrete turning into a brick in minutes is no joke either, it adds so much stress to an already brutal day.

Honestly, did they even think about bringing shade or just hoped the concrete would magically stay cool? Tbh, I've seen guys use wet towels on their necks and still look like they're melting by lunch. Feels like a recipe for heat stroke and a bad finish all at once.
