TIL I hit 500 pours without a single cold joint and it felt like a big deal
I been doing flatwork for about 5 years now, mostly driveways and patios. Last month I wrapped up a big slab in Reston, Virginia and my helper pointed out it was my 500th pour since I started keeping track. That number surprised me because I never thought I'd make it that far without messing up a seam. It mattered to me because cold joints used to be my biggest fear when I started out, and now I just know when to work fast and when to wait. Has anyone else ever counted their pours or hit a milestone like that?

Dang, I gotta be honest I always thought counting pours was kinda silly, like keeping score in a game that doesn't matter. But hearing you hit 500 without a single cold joint kinda changes my mind. That's a crazy streak, especially for flatwork where timing is everything. I had a buddy who did 200 something pours then blew a seam on a garage floor and it haunted him for months, so I get why this means something.

500 pours without a cold joint is wild, especially for flatwork where the clock is always against you. I used to think the same about counting them, but after seeing a guy at our shop hit 300 and then mess up on a simple walkway, I totally get why it matters now. That number is proof you're doing something right.
