Can we talk about the sidewalk finish at the new Riverside Park in Boise
I was walking my dog there yesterday and noticed the broom finish on the main walkway is super tight, like they used a really fine broom or maybe even a fresno trowel for the final pass. It looks great but I'm worried about how slick it might get when it rains. What's your go-to method for a finish that looks good but still has enough grip?

Super tight broom finish" sounds slick. My go-to is a wet broom, but I'm no pro.

A wet broom is the right move. Let it soak for a good 20 minutes before you start. The key is to keep a steady, light pressure and pull it straight back without stopping.

That "super tight broom finish" you saw is part of a bigger trend I've noticed. Everything from floors to public walkways seems to be getting a smoother, more polished look for style, but it often forgets about function. It's a classic case of form winning over safety, and you end up with beautiful but slippery surfaces when the weather turns.
