Appreciation post: the old finisher who told me my edger was hiding bad work
I was finishing a 40 by 60 slab in Waco and feeling pretty good about the smooth look until a finisher with 30 years on me said 'you're edging to hide your bad joints, not to finish them.' I started cutting my control joints a quarter inch deeper and floating the edges before the edger touches them, and the cracks at the corners dropped off a lot. Anybody else get called out on a habit they didn't know they had?
