Vent: spent 6 hours on a wifi dropout that turned out to be a $4 HDMI cable
Customer in Naperville called saying her wifi kept dropping every 20 minutes, so I swapped the router, reflashed firmware, and even ran new coax for the modem. Six hours later I unplugged her cheap HDMI cable from the TV and the 2.4GHz band came back instantly, turns out the shielding was junk and it was drowning the radio. Has anyone else gotten burned by a cable acting like an antenna right next to the router?
