Had a walk-in last Tuesday with a 4 year old Dell that wouldn't post, and I could either quote her the board swap plus labor or push her toward the $450 refurb I had on the shelf. I picked the repair because she was on a fixed income and flat out told me she can't afford a new machine right now. That was 9 days ago and I still don't have the replacement board in, so she's been calling twice a day wanting to know where her computer is. Made $0 so far and burned maybe 4 hours on phone tag. Any of you got a rule for when to fix versus when to just sell them something that works today?
