That server crash in a dentist office back in 2018 changed how I prep for on-site visits

I was at a small dental practice in Decatur doing a routine backup check when their main server just died. No warning, no recent backup, and the doctor was staring at me like I could fix it in 5 minutes. Took me 6 hours to recover their patient records from a half-broken drive. Now I always bring a portable SSD and clone the drive first thing, no matter what the ticket says. Anybody else have a horror story that made you change your whole workflow?

Six hours isn't really that bad for a server issue.

(Nodding along) Six hours isn't bad until you've got thirty angry customers blowing up your inbox. I once had a 2-hour outage and my Slack looked like a war zone. Probably says more about my backup plan than anything else.
