Spent $200 on a thermal imaging camera and it was a waste for home IT calls
I bought a FLIR One Pro last month thinking it would help me find overheating components and bad connections faster. But I just ended up wasting time double checking everything the camera showed me with a multimeter. Has anyone else found these things more gimmicky than useful for daily bench work?

...and it's the same thing I see with a lot of fancy tools these days. Everyone wants the flashy gadget but forgets the basics. A multimeter and a good flashlight handle 90% of my calls. The camera just adds another step. I see this everywhere, people buying expensive stuff to fix problems they could solve with simple things.

Whoa, wait, hold on. You're telling me people are actually using thermal cameras on basic electrical calls? Like, for a tripped breaker or a dead outlet? I thought those were for like, finding hidden water leaks in walls or checking insulation in attics. That's wild to me, I can't imagine pulling that out before a simple voltage tester. Guess some folks really do want to feel like they're on a CSI episode instead of just fixing a light switch, ha.
