I was sure thermal paste application didn't matter much until I saw a test showing a 15-degree Celsius difference between methods.

I found a video from a channel called 'Tech Deconstructed' where they tested the dot, line, and spread methods on an i7-13700K, and the spread method actually performed the worst under load.

@olivia_rivera88 called it perfectly with that butter bread thing. Spread method turned my 5800X into a literal oven, saw temps hit 92c while gaming. Dot method has never let me down, keeps things around 68c under heavy loads. Sometimes the simple stuff just works better.

Wait, the spread method was the worst?

Absolutely the worst (I still have nightmares about trying to spread cold butter on soft bread). It just shreds everything.
