I spent $300 on a thermal camera for my phone and it actually paid for itself in a month.

Had a client with a laptop that kept shutting down, and the usual tests showed nothing. The camera found a tiny hot spot on a power rail I would have missed. What's the best single tool buy you've made that seemed silly at first?

Same with my cheap borescope, saved so much time.

Cheap tools can be a huge win, right? Gotta say though, @the_john, calling it a borescope might be a stretch for those super cheap ones. They're more like a camera on a wire, which is still super useful. Isn't it funny how the right simple tool can fix a problem in minutes?

That "camera on a wire" is perfect for checking behind walls without making a mess.
