Had a client today who made me rethink my whole upgrade pitch
Guy brought in a 2015 Dell laptop today, wanted me to max out the RAM and swap in an SSD. I told him it wasn't worth it for a $200 machine. He said 'my wife's recipes are on this thing, I don't care about the price.' Changed my perspective on how I talk to people about value. Any of you ever had a customer just ignore your cost-benefit advice outright?

@morgan_ramirez you got that right. It's funny how we get stuck on telling people what makes sense financially. But some stuff just cant be replaced. His wife's recipes are worth way more than the laptop is. I think we forget that attachment to data is real and personal. It's not about the machine, it's about the memories stored on it. That guy is gonna pay whatever it takes to keep that thing running. And honestly, I respect that.

Oh gosh, that hits home! My dad spent way too much fixing his old phone just to save the videos of my mom before she passed, and I never once told him it was a dumb move.
