Compared thermal paste brands on identical builds and the difference was night and day

Honestly, I built two gaming PCs last month with the exact same parts except for the thermal paste. One got Arctic MX-6 and the other got some no-name tube I found in my drawer. The Arctic build ran 8 degrees cooler under load and the fans barely spun up. I tried swapping the CPUs between systems to rule out a bad chip and the temps followed the paste every time. Has anyone else run a side by side like this or am I just overthinking it?

Funny how the cheap stuff always finds a way to mess with the little details that matter.

Did you check if the mounting pressure changed between the two pastes? I've seen some pastes act like a lubricant on the screws when you first apply them, making the cooler sit a tiny bit tighter or looser without you noticing. It's not just the paste itself, it's how it changes the mechanical connection between the CPU and the cooler. That 8 degree gap could be half paste performance and half just getting a better mount by accident.

Saw a buildzoid video mentioning the same thing last week.
