A guy in my shop yesterday refused to let me clean his laptop fan
He brought in a 2021 Dell G5 that was overheating, and I told him the fans were clogged with dust. He said he didn't want me to open it, just to 'blow some air in the vents'. I explained that wouldn't fix the core issue, but he insisted and paid the $20 diagnostic fee. Has anyone else had a client argue against the actual repair like that?

Sounds like he wanted a magic fix, not an actual one.

Magic fix" is putting it lightly. The guy wanted a whole new reality handed to him without lifting a finger. It's shocking how many people think solutions should just appear with zero effort on their part. They want the end result without any of the actual steps in between. It's like expecting a finished house when you haven't even bought the land yet. The complete disconnect from how things actually work is just wild to me.
